USFS-STOCKING Surveys
Stocking surveys were completed on the Allegheny National Forest in October 1992. This work was done to analyze regeneration success following timber harvesting. About five hundred acres were completed in this project.
USFS-SILVEX Stand Examinations
Silvicultural Examination of Timber Compartments was completed on 5,951 acres on the Greenbrier District of the Monongahela National Forest from September 1993 to December 1993. Data collected included but was not limited to overstory, understory, and accessibility information.
WVDNR-Salvage Sales
A feasibility study and conduction of salvage sales was done on the Elk River Wildlife Management Area in Braxton County, West Virginia. Work included downed and standing timber inventory, overseeing harvesting operation, design and layout of 6.7 miles of haul road, marking boundary of cutting units and coordinating preparation of timber sale prospectuses. Approximately 4.2 million board feet of downed and standing timber have been sold on this project to date. Work on this project continues today in the form of logging supervision, public relations work and special project advisory council.
WVDNR-Inventory / Appraisal
A forest inventory and appraisal was completed on the Plum Orchard Lake Wildlife Management Area for the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Section. The Plum Orchard Lake WMA consists of approximately 2,100 acres. This work was done, as directed by the WVDNR, within error limitations of plus or minus ten percent at the ninety percent probability level. The entire project was completed in less than one week.
WVDNR-Inventory / Timber Sale
An intensive forest inventory was completed on the Handley Wildlife Management Area for the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Section. Data collected included but was not limited to overstory, understory, and accessibility information. Guidelines were similar to the silvicultural examinations completed for the U.S. Forest Service.
Landmark Forestry marked and sold timber on part of the Handley Wildlife Management Area. This high profile area was treated with technologically advanced forestry systems as a demonstration to the public.
